you got to be kidding!I currently am working on a meriton job and the workmanship is terrible! not one wall is straight and square the design of the plumbing services is wrong and doesnt comply with australian standards as3500 believe me i am a plumber and was desperate for a job thats the only reason i havnt quit!i have worked on all major contractors sites and i believe they are so much better including mirvac! Plus there is little regard to OH@S on the site except a hard hat and hi-vis shirts.Meriton just want everything to go as fast as possible and forget about workers safety!

The bollards have completely eradicated errant parking. We have a system where people would have to book visitor’s parking in advance with security. It is working like clock work now and everyone respects this system and abide by it.

We have the saem issue which we have tried to address by verious means for over a year now. We discusssed bollards but thought that residents will simply park with the tail of their cars slightly over the bollard so we would be unable to put the bollard up.

I think the idea of utilising the car parking space we have is potentially a good solution to the growing issue of car parking shortage in our major CBD areas. Here is another good one to go with the others mentioned above http://www.carparkingrentals.com.au/ . Based on this there is also some healthy income to be made for owners of parking space, whilst commuters can potentially save some money on the hefty metered parking we have in the bulk of our cities

I see you’ve mentioned available NRAS properties in Tasmania and Queensland – I’d just like to let your readers know there are now NRAS properties available in Darwin, rural Victoria, including big growth areas in Bacchus Marsh and Bendigo, and in suburban Melbourne, so there are plenty of options for potential investors.

This is idiotic. Car parking spaces should simply be banned, particularly off street parking in the inner suburbs of big cities. This will provide more space for people, and accomadate more efficient transport such as bicycles, and public transport, as well as pedestrians. If this means prices fall, all well and good. People then will be able to afford to live near their place of work. We have our priorities all wrong in Australia.

Dear Michael

The proposed plans by your neighbour needs to incorporate, among other things, shadow diagrams, elevation drawings etc which comply with building regulations to ensure the development does not adversely affect the neighbourhood. I believe your objection needs to address these issues and show that you will be adversely affected. The case can be dependant upon many factors such as which council you are with, the particular planner / council officer who is reviewing the case as well as policies / regulations which may be specific, if any, to your local council. It may be worth checking if there are any other neighbours who may be adversely affected and find out what are the issues involved. Hope this helps.

Many landlords it seems don’t want to pay attention to the laws regarding tenants and deposits and simply choose to do as they wish. The regulations are quite simple.

For developing, all the usual location rules apply: access to good transport links, shopping and facilities all making it easier to sell. You should also consider the use of the property post-development. A property to be developed as a ‘buy to let’ investment aimed at young professionals will have a very different profile to one where the aim is to refurbish and sell on quickly to a family market. Your tips and guidelines here are surely helpful! Really nice post. Very good points. I hope plenty of people see it.
